The 24th annual meeting of the SETAC-GLB will take place from 04 to 06 September 2019 at the Landau campus of the University of Koblenz-Landau with the participation of the GDCh-FG Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology will take place. The theme of this year's conference is "Biodiversity in Water and on Land - The Role of chemical stressors„.

Nanomaterials Dye The World: (Nano)Pigments Almost every day, new disturbing news is raining down on citizens: fungal diseases are wiping out amphibians, wind turbines are contributing to the decline of insects. Chemicals are also in the spotlight again and again, e.g. when they are suspected of contributing to bee mortality like neonicotinoids, how PCBs accumulate in charismatic mammals, or how glyphosate can even be detected in humans. Questions about the role of chemical stressors in the multiple stress context and how much they actually contribute to the decline of biodiversity in water and on land, on the other hand, are hardly discussed in the media and are far from being clarified in the scientific discourse.
During this year's annual meeting of the SETAC GLB, the focus will therefore be on these questions, among others. Different series of lectures will highlight various aspects of the behavior and effects of chemicals in the environment, taking into account the diverse expertise of the conference participants. We also cordially invite the public to the plenary discussions that will take place in the evening. In this way, we hope to create a better understanding of the scientific discourse among the general public.
